Grant Making

Our grants empower nonprofit organizations to respond in significant ways to critical needs, to attempt bold new ventures and to take innovative approaches to ongoing problems. Our programs educate members about community needs, local nonprofits and best practices, innovative approaches and emerging trends in philanthropy.

Pooled Fund Grants
Members each combine $1,000 of their annual contribution so that, as a Foundation, we make large impact grants of up to $100,000 each year to five nonprofits in Washington State.

We give broadly - not just to women's causes but to a wide range of organizations serving arts and culture, education, environment, health and human services.

Partner Grant Initiatives
Building on the success of our well-established Pooled Fund grant process, the Foundation launched three new grant initiatives to provide a deeper level of inquiry through an advanced curriculum of hands-on grant making: International, Diversity and Emerging Issues.

Impact Assessment
Our philosophy of informed and sustained collective giving builds a stronger community and engages women as leaders in philanthropy.

The Impact Assessment Committee monitors the progress of Foundation grants, communicates the impact of these grants to the membership, provides feedback to the Grant Committee, and strengthens relationships with our grantees.

Our Collective Giving Model
Our model serves as a visionary resource for new foundations throughout the state, region and nation.
